All right!

Listen up and listen good, you sick freaks! I don't know what kind of stupid joke you bastards are trying to pull, but it ends here, right now!

[For those nearby, in the forest Kiba and Hinata have found themselves in, they might be able to hear or even witness the heated broadcast first-hand. Otherwise, their voices and an occasional camera snapshot is going to be all available to the casual or curious listener. Even so, the journal's camera might be just useful enough to capture the current moment: Hinata, who is just behind Kiba, has a worried look on her face in contrast to Kiba's absolutely livid one. When Hinata starts to talk, her voice is soft and incomparable to Kiba's challenging tone.] Um, Kiba-kun…?

[If Kiba heard her, he shows no indication of it, his voice a frustrated snarl.] Where is he?! Where. Is. Akamaru?

Kiba-kun?

[Kiba voice lowers, though it loses little of its emotional edge.] If you people have hurt him, I’ll—I’ll—

Kiba-kun, please. [This time, Hinata's voice is louder than her first few attempts. She even puts a gentle hand on his shoulder to get his attention, if not to calm the angry ninja. Kiba stops, and the journals might detect a brief pause as Kiba turns his head to regard her, his voice softening, though it's still sharp and brittle.]

What?

[She's startled to silence for a beat or two before she composes herself and gives that shoulder a very soft squeeze of reassurance.] I just think you- you should calm down for a while... Akamaru-kun shouldn't be too far and I think we can find him if we look hard enough. Would you mind if I- if I address the citizens of this place instead?

[There's a pause that's soon followed by a rustle of sound as the journal changes hands. The grimace on his face is almost detectable.] All right. Fine. You do it. Doesn't matter to me anyway.

[When Hinata receives his journal, she gives him a small smile of thanks. Unlike Kiba's previous address, Hinata's attempt will be gentle and polite.] To— To anyone who has seen a tall white dog, he belongs to my friend. Please, we'd like to have him back. Whoever took him, Akamaru-kun is part of our team and we will not stand around until we find him. We will also—

[Then Kiba's voice suddenly cuts in from a small distance away.] You tell those bastards that if they've done anything, and I mean anything, to him, I'll make them regret it! I'll find them and shove these stupid, goddamn wings down their throats! Don't think I won't!

[She gives him an understanding smile. He's going through a lot and if she was the one who had someone precious to her taken away, she'd be distressed too. Turning to the journal again, Hinata continues her diplomatic speech with a more determined face that even the camera likely captures.]—not hesitate to perform necessary procedures if we ever discover that he is injured or hurt.

Thank you.

[And the feed snaps off with an audible click. Though those within the forest might still come upon them, perhaps just after their broadcast as they talk on the ground floor, or perhaps sometime later as they jump from tree to tree in rapid, though attentive haste, pausing every little while to rest briefly.]

I- I don't think that would be a pretty good idea, Kiba-kun. [It takes a while before she responds as she squints to make her seeing range longer.] The end of the barrier is still pretty far away. I can not see beyond the forest, but I know it's still beyond it.

[She looks up and follows the direction of the enclosed barrier on the opposite side.] However if we go this way, it seems to be nearer. But there are various monsters guarding the forest the deeper I see to it.

But you can't see Akamaru?

[He all ready knows the answer to that. He grimaces, biting his lip as he forces himself into some poor semblance of calm. Think, Kiba, think. If Akamaru was here, where would he go?]

He'd stay away from anything he thought was dangerous, unless he had to. [And as much as he wants to search every corner, every nook and cranny, he's not about to put Hinata into a dangerous situation if he can help it—not if there are other places to search first. And if Akamaru was close, he'd try to track them, too. Shouldn't lead him into a viper's pit. He'll come back later himself, by himself if he needs to.

Sharp nails digging into his palms, he grimaces.] Which way's the clearest? We'll go that way.

[Nodding, Hinata has an idea of what's going through Kiba's mind. Call it a teammate's intuition but she also feels that he's looking out for her too and, in his distressed state right now, is something she appreciates very much.

Smiling gently as if to mirror his grimace, Hinata points at the first direction she mentioned to him.]
This way would be the best one. I will fill you in the farther we go and-- and the farther I see. [She has already promised to herself that she'll also look out for her teammates. No matter what.]

[Kiba nods once more before beginning to move again, taking the lead as he leaps from branch to branch in the direction she suggested. He doesn't say anything for awhile, unusually quiet. He finds his mind wandering as he scours the forest floor for even the slightest sign Akamaru has, at the very least, been nearby. But there's nothing. His senses are telling him that much. All his nose catches are wildlife, trees, and the occasional unfamiliar human scent, and his eyes only confirm what his nose all ready knows.

After some time, his eyes refocus and he looks over his shoulder at Hinata. His eyes narrow at the wings, though his own are tucked underneath his flak jacket he had found beside him upon waking. And that in turn reminds him of the uncomfortable knot in his back. His feet hit a thick treelimb. Hard. A frown tugs at his face, and his eyes are momentarily concerned.]

Those wings aren't bothering you, are they?

[At the sudden question, Hinata fleetingly glances back at her wings. They don't really trouble her that much. Perhaps what will happen if they get injured is what's troubling her more. Turning back at her comrade, Hinata gives him a gentle smile and a careful shake of her head.]

They aren't. [This time, she's the one who glances at his concealed wings.] How about yours, Kiba-kun?

Fine. Just annoying as hell.

[He snorts, flinging himself out and upwards, catching the next landing spot.]

Figures the idiots wouldn't give us ones that actually fly. That might actually be useful.

[When he finds out just who or what is responsible for this, he's going to kick their asses and then some. Wings? Really, guys, really? Tacky, good-for-nothing bastards. They didn't even have style.]

[She nods, hopping on the next tree branch as well.]

I don't see any reason why they- they would give us flightless wings. [Is it some form of identification for whoever kidnapped them? Hinata knows she will never be able to fully realize the reason if they don't actually get to see their captors, though.]

[He snorts. Grimacing. What did they do? Surgically implant them into their backs?]

Not like it's going to matter in the long run, anyway. I'll find a way to get them off.

[Hinata's voice when she speaks up again is filled with worry.]

But, Kiba-kun, if they gave us these, they must mean something. We don't know what can possibly happen if we take them away.

Yeah, but having these things in our bodies can't be good either. I don't like it.

[He still remembers what it felt like to have Ukon inside his body, how natural and unnatural and wrong it felt. So the wings are an almost disturbing, if different reminder, and he can't help but hate them, and wants nothing more than to have them out.]

But I won't let anything bad happen.

[Hinata gives a determined nod. Her teammates and friends are important to her. No such things as flightless wings will harm them if she can help it.]

I also won't let anything bad happen. I will keep an eye out for these wings from time to time. [Feel them. Do they itch more than usual? Are they painful?]
